Listen to Tom, he does know what he is doing. Now, if you are really going into the wedding photography business, as opposed to just hoping to shoot a few weddings, spend some money.
Stage you own wedding with fabulous looking models, in the fanciest church, with all the most expensive trimings. Make everything conductive to the very best album as a result, restage, reshoot, shoot alternatives, all those things you can not do in a real wedding. The idea is to produce that super album that is going to be your primary sales tool. All this will not be quite as expensive as you think. Why, because, wedding directors, florests, tux rentals, limosine services, bridal gown makers, all need photos. You make a deal where they provide the props and get photos for their advertising in return. I have heard of this being done for as little as film and processing cost, but realistically it is going to cost you a bunch. Can't afford it? Are you going to start a business, or play at your hobby? It takes money to start a business. If you just want to play at your hobby, why not shoot for a Studio, believe me it is a lot less demanding.
