That works but the UI can get really sluggish. I find it's better to apply the operation to a single image, then select the (possibly 100's of) others and click Sync Settings (if in Library) or Sync... (if in Develop). Select which setting(s) you wish to sync and click Synchronize. That should take a few seconds to propagate.
