The value of the P-TTL cannot be overstated, IMO. I shoot a lot of macro in
the field. With the Pz-1p and AF500 FTZ I would constantly dial in flash
compensation based on my estimate of the factors at play. If the object
filled only a small portion of the frame with nothing close enough behind
it to reflect back the flash, the TTL would blow out without significant
minus compensation. But if the object filled the whole frame, then it would
need no compensation. With P-TTL all that goes by the wayside. The
metering is accurate if you are shooting at a small object that fills only
a part of the frame, with no need to add exposure compensation. The Mz-S,
AF360, and A* 200 have become my standard macro setup now.

Add wireless remote capability and the versatility of non-ttl auto and it's
a great little unit. Full swivel head and more power would be desirable - I
still use a Pz-1p and AF 500FTZ or AF 400 FTZ for birds - largely because
the IF button on the Pz-1p makes it better for slow shutter synch, and also
because the power of the other units is needed when shooting birds are 20 -
30 feet, even just for fill flash.
