I'm pretty sure at this point that it is actually a 3/21, I wouldn't
have a problem adapting a sr44 to fit. The electronics are straight
forward enough, all it takes is the right diodes a bit of wiring and a
length of the right diameter wooded doweling. But the Eveready 412
would be a bit difficult to swallow, a couple of replacement batteries
would end up costing more than the meter.

Among the used stuff is the afore Mentioned Honeywell Pentax
Spotmeter, they
only want about 60 bucks for it but I have no idea what battery it
takes and no
one in the store knows either. If you've priced a used Spotmeter you
know what
a bargain that is if it works and if the battery is available. So
does anybody
know?
not sure which is original, but i know it's not the Spot Meter V that
i have; this page (donation requested) provides manuals for two
earlier ones:
Honeywell / Pentax 3-21 Spotmeter
[Honeywell] Pentax 1-21 spot light meter
the former (on first page) mentions 1.35v Duracell PX1 & 22.5v
Eveready 412
the latter (on last page) mentions 1.3v Mallory RM640, Eveready 640 or
equiv. and 9v Mallory 1604, Eveready 213 or equiv.
a quick search shows potential sources for all four batteries, but
some are pricey
