no deer here in central Denver, but i am a big opuntia fan; growing several species and even own the domain glochid.com, awaiting some special purpose

as someone with a *lot* of plants, yellow is probably my least favorite flower color, hence my delight in this particular strain:

Opuntia phaecantha "dark night", with magenta flowers, purplish pads and black spines; hasn't bloomed yet this year, that's from 2011
