I am not sure, I have not seen a Pentax 2x S, I do know the "L" ones are brighter (larger lens diameter) than most other converters I have seen. I have the 1.4 and 2x APO AF converters by Sigma, and they are visibly smaller and cause vignetting on long lenses using larger apertures.
