That first photo of the outside in the snow reminds me of the "abandoned"
VA Hospital up in Asheville, NC.

A more modern VA VA hospital was built on part of the grounds & part of
the grounds have been sold to private medical corporations for assisted
living & nursing homes. The old doctors quarters have been refurbished
and have someone living there, but I don't know if it's doctors at the
VA hospital or not.

These buildings are kind of in limbo because they're so deteriorated
they can't be economically restored, but they can't be torn down because
they're listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Plug this into Google maps & go to street view and you can see the old
doctors quarters, the historic hospital is to your right and if you turn
around to look the other way you can see the new VA Hospital that
replaced them across the parking lot.

They won't let anyone inside, in fact they'll arrest you if they catch
you trying to get in, but you can take photos through the fence.

I know that several people here are interested in buildings that are
beyond their prime.

This is a new book of images featuring the State of New Jersey's
famous or infamous Greystone Park Psychiatric Hospital, and its most
famous patient, America's greatest folk singer, Woody Guthrie.
Guthrie suffered from Huntington's disease, a degenerative brain
disorder, and spent 5 years at the hospital, where he was visited by
Bob Dylan, Joan Baez and other artists of the folk music revival of
the 1950s and 1960s. The original buildings of the hospital have
been closed for many years, and the images illustrate their decay and
the haunting spirit that remains.
