Hi Alan:  I love the 3rd one, such pretty color and you got a good look. 
Unfortunately, I’m not a birder; I think I’ve taken one shot of one Cardinal in 
all the years I’ve been on and off photography.  I would think Paul Stenquist 
and Stan Halpin could offer some good advice.  Though I would say, maybe  set 
up a tripod since you’re doing backyard birding—though the way birds seem to be 
in constant twitching mode, you may still need high shutter speeds—I think.  
Like I said I’m no expert birder.
