Bees can only sting you once before they die. Wasps & hornets can sting
you many, many times.
The worst are Yellow Jackets. Think midget wasps with a really bad
attitude. Wasps & hornets generally will not attack you unless you do
something to disturb them. Yellow jackets will attack you just because
they don't like the way you look.

They may well be hornets rather than wasps. As you can see from the
second image, they at the top of the second story, and I was not able
to see the buggers clearly, even with binoculars.

Those we have also build their nests under the house eves. They choose an area
nearest to their water source, the pool.
Hornet spray does the job pretty well, but only temporarily.
