stan, I lOVE that close-up of the three draft horses - and generally enjoyed the old timey buildings and the Grand Hotel..

Bob, right - no motor vehicles - although I think there are some exceptions - a fire truck or two or something as I recall.

There are two movies I love that were filmed there - one silly Ester Wiliams one and the other a charming romantic time travel fantasy with Christpher Reeves and Jane Seymour called "Somewhere in Time"

The Esther Williams/van JOhnson film is called "this time for Keeps" and
I saw it as a child - probably within a year or two of going to Macinac
with my parents. I was a big esther Williams fan and did water ballet
in grade school as a result... never did get that back dolphin right.

I enjoyed Don's recent shots of Mackinac.

Two nice sets of shots.

I spent a couple of days there myself last week and, at the risk of redundancy,
offer herewith some of my impressions of the island.

What's the story there - no motor vehicles on the island?
