Don't count out a used K-5 or a refurbished/used K-5 IIs. Both can be
had for less cost than a K-50. The K-5 II has a vastly improved AF
over the k-5/k-50. Something to consider. The biggest differences
between the k-5 and k-50 outside of build quality is the AF. The K-50
uses an improved k-5 module, where the k-5 ii has a newer module with
an f2.8 center. Having used all three cameras, the II is much, much
better than the K-30's AF I used. In good light they all perform
pretty well, but as soon as the lights go down the K-30 certainly
holds a slight advtantage over the K-5 and same goes for the II over
all of them. Also the K-5 has a 2 way AA filter, where the K-30/K-5 II
only have an AA filter that goes in one direction. The images are a
bit sharper than the K-5. If you are shooting people and not printing
larger than 30x20, I hardly doubt you would notice the difference to
be fair. If I had 4-500 right now to buy another body, I would be
looking pretty hard for a used K-5 II. It will feel like the most
massive upgrade ever after shooting a K100D for so long. Oh the
K-5/K-5 II has back button AF. The K-30 does, but you cannot decouple
the half press from AF. Little differences like that make it much more
pro oriented. IMO, the K-5 IIs is hands down the best bang for the
buck at 700 right now too. The lack of an AA filter is noticeable and
quite startling at how sharp images are even with subpar lenses. Feel
free to message me off list if you think what I said has any merit.
Its just an opinion after all.
