With the PZ-1 and ZX-5n (and probably others) this is achieved by putting a manual-focus lens on the camera, setting the body to AF, and locking the electronic cable release. Don't know if the MZ-s does this, too. Focus confirmation: you have your autofocus camera set to manual focus and are turning the focus ring yourself. A light shows up in the viewfinder to let you know the camera thinks your subject is in focus. Having trouble coming up with words of few syllables for predictive AF.
