Brian,

Thank you for giving your personal ranking of these photos, - it's helpful.

Alan and Dan, - thank you for your compliments.

Some 7 years ago, for many months I had a small spider in the apartment kitchen who was taking care of fruit flies.

I frequently see anoles and these geckos on the outside of our house.
I was not thinking about keeping a gecko in the house until I read that Wikipedia article (and then also got your responses).
Once in a while, we do get them sneaking inside, and then I help them out.
Ghm... maybe I should've kept him?
But he was rather scared by the entire ordeal (and the photo flash) that I was afraid to keep him even until the morning (I was thinking about
showing him to my daughter).

The wikipedia article does mention feces that these guys leave inside the house. I am not sure if I would be too happy with those.

Next time she comes, I'll think about leaving a small bowl with milk for her on the floor. ;-)

Some good images there. They are common indoors here & good at catching mossies. I wouldn't dream of throwing them out - shame! The locals are very superstitious & kill them on sight.

Those are superior images, Igor, and that is a very interesting creature.

Why did you put him out? If you make him a permanent house guest, he will keep your home insect free. In Hawaii, most people welcome little geckos into their homes.

I learned that Hemidactylus, essentially means "house little dragon" [*].
:-)

This guy visited our house around midnight last night.
After a quick photo session he (she?) was released to the cold and rainy night outside.

For those who like technicalities, these shots were done with
Pentax DA-F 100 mm/2.8 Macro, 1/160 s, f/9 for the first three, and f/11 for the last four, ISO 800, K5 IIs, handheld, with
a flash.

I am interested to know which photos from this small set are and aren't working for people.

All comments are welcome!

Cheers,

Igor
