When I travel I usually take my laptop and a portable hard drive to back up images as I go. I keep one copy on the laptop, another on the portable drive and I also ensure that I don't reuse any full SD cards until all images are safely transferred to my home storage.
i just import onto my iPad mini and leave the images on the cards; 2 copies is good enough for me, but if money were riding on the photos i'd make another copy …
Are there any other alternatives that I've overlooked?
i have been looking for something along this line for a couple of years; i do not like the dedicated hard drives with SD slots — they seem overpriced and inflexible; i would think someone has already programmed arduino or raspberry pi to copy SD card to flash drive (or SSD), but an initial search comes up blank; would be a fun project for the right person
