For many years, I've been using a lumiquest softbox on my speedlights:

I find it invaluable when I'm working with a speedlight. What I would love would be a grid that I can put over it, so that not only can I get controlled spread and softening, but so that I could direct the light a bit better. I've got grids for my speedlights, but I have not seen a gridded softbox of a size that could be carried in a camera bag.

Is there some physics reason that these don't exist, such as the light source isn't big enough for it to make a difference versus a smaller grid?
