Yes the narrower fields of view remove some of the distortion and can look much better. Typically if I am filming 2 people in the front seat of a car from the front windscreen, I will set the fov to 'medium' and it is perfect for a 2-shot. For a single of (say) just the driver, the 'narrow' setting works great.
