Dan, I have a Go Pro that I've used a bit and find the results to be very
good.
I've used it on an elastic headmount when I ran a 4 dog sled in an 8 mile
race along the southern shore of Lake Superior in early January a few years
ago - it was in the 0 to 10 degree F range and it still had power at the end
of the race - about 55 minutes of usage - I was concerned about battery life
in the low temps but it was not an issue.
Also used it in a car rally, suction cupped to the hood of my Boxster. Gave
good results, although the audio picked up more wind noise than I'd like -
still acceptable.
In both cases I used the Go Pro mounting products - the headband mount and
their suction cup mount, although I did tether the camera to the car also -
just in case.
It gives surprisingly good results considering the size and cost.
I don't use it enough to be real familiar with the menus so I keep the
instructions handy to decipher the menu.
I've only used it to record video and have no idea about stills captured
with it.
I'd suggest you take it out and try different setting to judge which give
you the results your looking for.
A fun little camera.

Subject: OT: Go Pro
I have acquired a used Go Pro Hero 3. I intend to use it for certain
parts of my winter trip to Maui, such a Kayaking and Outrigger Canoe
trips and drive up the mountain. I thought it might also be useful
this spring, when we are venturing off to Japan, with a brief stop in
China.
Does or has anyone on list use/used a Go Pro camera? Is so, what have
you sued it for, and what do you like and dislike about it?
Any tips about how to use and operate it to advantage would be
appreciated.
