Zos,

It is on a Win-7 system.
Yep, I saw it mentioned that LR is (might be) using codecs from QuickTime.
QuickTime is installed on this computer. More over, - LR 3.6 on the same computer can work with the same AVI's just fine. I just checked, nothing has changed with that.

I don't know if LR-5 needs a newer version if QT...
I am still puzzled.

Let me check....

Ok I imported a video just fine with LR5 and my K-5 IIs. Sounds like
you are missing the codec lightroom needs. Are you on OS X? If so I
probably wouldn't be much help, but lightroom is dependent upon
whatever codecs you have installed on your machine for video. IIRC, it
definitely wants quicktime at the very least. If you are on a PC try
installing quicktime and maybe the full k-lite codec pack.

I encountered that LR-5 (5.7.1) cannot work with Pentax k5-iiS video files.
It doesn't show the thumbnail in the import "dialog", and also says that it
cannot "import" the video files, complaining about the audio bit-rate.
I had no problem with the video files from the same camera in LR-3.*.

I googled and found a few possible solutions (including a plugin).
But I am still not sure if it is a problem of my installation of LR-5,
or it's a "feature"...

Has anybody encountered any similar problem, and does anybody know a
solution?
While I don't do much with the videos in LR, - it's nice to use LR as a
"cataloging" tool. Also, avoiding errors during import of photos would be
nice.

Thank you,

Igor
