Even though you may have retained a copy, I'm attaching your conversion for your perusal. What do you think of the light tones throughout the background trees? Also, within the stack of splintered tree(s). I actually don't see them as that different from those I "produced." The darker sky is my aim without producing halo's I can, obviously, brighten the sky sufficiently to obscure the halos, but that's not the image I am looking for. Defring Layer (to eliminate halos) is, apparently, for color. I'm grateful for the helpful suggestions from all. They'll give me something to do between naps.
