Google bought the archive (which means they will probably delete it someday), but doesn't control Usenet, just provides probably the most-used interface to it these days

in the early days (pre-web) access to nntp content was a given, and then in the middle years my ISPs had solid nntp servers, but these days it looks like it is pay to play if you want to avoid google

i just took a peek into rec.photo.digital and to see what we are missing, and felt no desire to stick around ;?>
