Thanks, Bob. With the hepatica - its funny how forgetting to bring the
tripod forced me to do some different things. I hope to have a few more
keepers from yesterday's session - though the success rate with the hand
held image stacks is not high.
Thanks for looking at the re-do of the leaves as well - once I got
started printing it, I could see that it needed more work but am happy
with the result.

Mark,
The blue hepatica is wonderful.
I love the blue pedals in the blossom.
I appreciate the sharpness overall and in the central core.
And the little hairs on the stem and green parts - only with stacking!
The leaves image looks very natural and not processed.
You went a long way for this, but the result is worth it.
It's always nice to look at your images.
I always learn things.

A simple blue hepatica -

Scouting for spring wildflowers today I was surprised to see a good number
of hepatica out already. I forgot that I took the tripod out of the car
(that is where I keep it) when I was loading up with stuff to donate to Good
Will last week, so I shot hand held / TAV mode / open aperture with a plan
to stack focus. Laid down on the ground in the woods - its been a dry spring
so I was not wallowing in mud, just resting in clean leaves, pine needles
and (probably) animal poop. (I saw a lot of animal poop in the snow there a
few weeks ago). No snacking on the way home.
This is the first stack that worked - 9 images. I have a lot of material to
work through.
Comments appreciated.

The final edit of the "muddy march leaves" photo from a few weeks ago. Much
better IMO.
