looks like 3021 is very similar to but a bit beefier and taller than the 3001 BPro i had until yesterday; both can still be found used pretty easily; i sold mine (good shape, no head) for $60

the Manfrotto 055 and 190 series supersede these, respectively, and continue the idea of center posts that go to a right angle, though the new ones make it easier

what strikes me is the the grip-action ballhead you used (as shown in your photo of your old setup) pretty much obviates the need for a right angle column, since it extends sideways fairly far and is easy to reposition

fwiw, on the 3001 i sold, the long portion of the center column is removable, leaving just a stub and allowing the tripod to go flat to the ground
