Quoting Charles Robinson <[email protected]>:

I'm considering it as a second body, something more "point and shoot" that is small enough to carry around more regularly than the K5 with the 16-50. Kit is going right now for about $500 which seems great but I was wondering what people in Pentax-land think of the overall handling/image quality, etc.

These days the K5/16-50 combo, while beautiful and durable and capable, seems kind of heavy to carry around all day when traveling casually. I was initially looking at the Sony a6000 but this Olympus seems like a great combo of features and price.

Yes - I got one about 6 months ago.

I bought it initially for an upcoming trip where every gram of weight saving will be important. The thing is, since I got it I've rarely picked up the K-5. The E-M10 is a wonderful picture taking machine. It's everything the K-01 should have been.

I got mine with the 14-42 EZ retractable zoom kit lens. The lens gets a few negative reviews from the pixel=peepers but it's a wonderfully compact everyday lens. I've since added a 40-150 and a 9-18. It all fits in a small backpack - the whole kit weighting almost nothing.

A couple of things to note if you get one:

* The camera is very small and handles much better with the optional grip (which is just a grip - not an extra power source).

* The camera is highly configurable and the menu system is nothing like the Pentax menus. It takes a while to get used to it.
