There are several other iOS ePub readers for the iPad out there. I should 
likely give one or two of them a try, when I get a moment (not anytime soon, 
unfortunately). I use iBooks because it's there; I use it and Kindle Reader a 
lot. 

I usually look at PDFs on the iPad with PDF Expert … it has the advantage of 
also being a good markup environment for editing/annotating work, great for use 
with camera instruction manuals. :-)
