I use an EF 17-40/4 on the C100 video camera but because it has no aperture ring, controlling the iris is done by a finger wheel on the camera. This has 3 settings for control: 1/2 stop increments, 1/3 stop increments and 'fine'. The 'fine' setting is not quite fine enough and the step-changes can be noticed during a stop-pull. This isn't acceptable for video, so I'm looking for a wide zoom with an aperture ring. I'd need to get the ring 'de-clicked' and dampened, and there are companies that will do this.
The only suitable lens I've found after an hour of searching (given the focal length I need) is the Nikkor AF-S 17-35/2.8 which after consideration would be fine, if a bit pricey. Oddly enough our friend Ken Rockbottom has a review: <http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/1735.htm> Not for now, but when I retire I'll likely keep the camera for projects, so I want a good wide zoom with ap ring, this might be it.
