Not Open Source, but Olympus new "Air A01" includes the ability to write apps 
to drive it.

it's probably more realistic to ask for a robust API than open-source firmware; there are probably trade secrets in the firmware and in fewer people would want to dig that deep anyway; the Olympus Air has an API, robustivity unknown


This little camera/gizmo looks like quite a lot of fun to play with.

i think it's a step in an important direction; separating the sensor from the viewfinder has tremendous potential; it seems like dialing in the UX on the smartphone is going to be a big challenge; i hope it doesn't fail in the market, or if it does, that it doesn't discourage similar ideas
