William, Utah is closer to Northern California than Canada. I assume you will be down nearer to Bryce/Zion and St. George. Or are you going to be in the Southeast near Canyonlands and Arches?
In any event, Nevada is in the way. You would need to specifically plan to come to northern California. We do have San Francisco, Redwoods, Big Sur Coast, Yosemite and Tahoe that are all wonderful places to photograph.
