According to Boz's equipment page, the F and FA 50mm f1.4 are identical
optically, so if you like the look and feel of the F, I would say try to
find it rather than get the FA new. But were it a choice between the F
28mm and the FA 28mm, I'd say get the FA because it IS a new formulation of
lens elements that is probably better -- else why change it?.
Between the 100's and the 135's, I'd say it's a toss-up. The focus limiter
switches are different on the macro, but they have the same glass. The
135's are the same also, and apparent;y the extreme telephotos are too. So
only the the 28mm formulation changed among the primes, as near as I can
tell.
The zoom formulations all appear to be different from their predecessors.
The F 70-210 is identified by Boz as having ED glass, which would make it
unique in that range, if somewhat slow. Compact and sweet to handle,
though, in any case, and a good reputation.
If they had only done the 24 f-anything, the 35 f2.0, and the 85 f1.4 in the
F-series, the MZ-S would have a good bunch of travelling companions.
