fortunately I know you jest..

I too have photographed Perce Rock, and also walked out to it and gathered fossils.. 1970, July We drove around the Gaspe especially so I could view the great Devonian chunk o'rock.
Much of the Gaspe is sad and poor - at least it was so in 1970..

It looks ideally suited to the purpose.

They'd have to rename it le Castor percé or the Québecois would get upset.

I think it would be lovely.

Young Mr. Trudeau should get started straight away on carving a

Just out of curiosity (and because I'm too lazy to Google it right

Does any other country do this where they carve these massive
sculptures
out of the mountainside?

IIRC, there's another one in either South or North Dakota of Crazy
Horse
that's been worked on for years & will be many more years before
it's
finished.

And then there's Stone Mountain Georgia.

Come to think of it, which came first Mount Rushmore or Stone
Mountain?

Thanks for commenting Ann, and I can't argue with you about the
sculpture which is more about a great engineering feat than
anything
about art. But is sure draws a crowd every day. I have worked on
the
color balance and the highlights to some effect.

find
Mt
Rushmore the most boring NP I've ever visited - and rather
consider
the sculpture as an insult to nature. The garishness of the odd
lighting effect backs up my opinion... but what I like a lot
about
the
photo is how cool it is that the big dipper is soclear and placed
perfectly- much nicer to look at than the presidents too. :-) If
you
