No one goes swimming in New England at the right time of year, the water
temperature of Long Island Sound is rising until mid November, and is
quite pleasant, for bathing, during "Indian Summer", by which time most
tourists and even locals have left the beaches for good.

Despite Sandy, the Jersey Shore is still a wonderful place, even in
winter. The ocean water there is of a temperature that actually
permits one to enter it, unlike the ocean water of California or New
England.
