That's encouraging, Ann. From experience I generally assume that phone
help is going to be pretty useless and a huge waste of time spent on
hold, so I don't go there.

Honestly though, based on having found hundreds of forum messages from
folks in the same boat, I'm going to just buy the lens I want from
another seller, North American based, who doesn't have this linked
restriction. It will cost me a bit more, but I think the source is a
lower risk anyway.

Looks like the eBay/Paypal split has created unresolved technical
issues. I'll just avoid this.
