I don’t know if I’ve been linked to any of those connection requests, but I 
could have been. LinkedIn is somewhat devious in the way they suggest 
connections. They’ll show you a list of people whom you know, but with whom you 
have not connected. Some of them are valuable contacts, so you choose to 
connect. On the same screen, LinkedIn might toss in some names they culled from 
your other social media activity at some time in the past, but who aren’t yet 
LinkedIn members. Click on one of those by mistake, and it generates the kind 
of emails you don’t like. I don’t like LinkedIns aggressive tactics, but as I 
said, it has proved valuable, and I depend on it and Facebook to promote my 
business. Both have worked well in that regard.
