It is only a minor annoyance here, and only for those suffering from
asthma or some similar condition, but it does cut down the visibility
quite a bit, and adds a lot of color to the sunrises and sunsets.  [on
the west side of the island, we don't get to see the sunrises, unless
we drive to the top of the 10,000 foot volcano to the east of us]
