There was also a concrete ship at the Bayonne (N.J.) Military Ocean Terminal
base that we'd view when the base was open. No idea if it might have been a
sister ship. It was hard to fathom as a kid that a concrete ship would
actually be built and float.

We have a concrete ship back in New Jersey. It if the SS Atlantus,
and it is located off Sunset Beach in Cape May.

When I was a kid, the end next to the pier was still open and we could go
out on it. Lately, it's been a handy "front drop" when we've had a nice
sunset, and I've been in the South County and needed something
interesting
to put in front of the sunset. January 2015, I was driving home from a
job
in Watsonville, saw the nice sunset and stopped just to take advantage of
the colors and got one of my favorite photos of the year.
