Thanks, Dan. I sent this image to a friend (Pro nature shooter) and his instant 
reaction was
"I see you found a Cattle Egret." I'm going to look into it's identity more 
later.
I've seen and shot many many egrets in recent years, as I'm sure many of you 
have endured.
This has a very different look than the numerous egrets I've seen. I've never 
seen that top of the head
feather ridge that this one activated several times while I was watching.
I think you may be right in that it has the dark bill of a snowy.

Cattle egrets usually have yellow bills, and the ones I see lack such
a noticeable crest.

In what environment was it seen?  Cattle egrets are mostly seen on dry
land, while other egrets are usually water birds.
