The R1800 uses just two blacks; Matte and Photo.
While no "dedicated" B&W setting, it can do a very
good B&W print...if in the mood.

I'd pass on this one; it's a little too old, technology-wise. It uses
pigment inks, so print longevity shouldn't be an issue, but it's an
older ink set that doesn't use the multiple black inks for good B&W
printing that I think you need.
