There are four species of Buzzards found in Kruger, none common. They are a little smaller than the eagles but have un-feathered legs. The hawks are more slender in build. There are also Kites, Falcons, Harriers & Kestrels to add to the confusion. American visitors often confuse the Ground Hornbill with your Turkey Buzzard/Vulture.

Yes - so much better without a halo .. and such a handsome fellow!
My first reaction was "buzzard? - looks like a hawk to me" because over
here what are commonly
called buzzards are /turkey vultures/(Cathartes aura) - the "turkey"
part, I believe, because at a distance
a solitary bird walking a long could be confused with a wild turkey. Our
buzzards are not as pretty as yours.
