Well JAck old chum, now that you accidentally posted this to the list...
I'll throw it out to the gang..
Gang -
Jack says that what I'm pointing to with an arrow on the closeup of his
canary is a leg band...
I have put it next to a closeup of my yellow bird to compare front three
"toes" - I kinda see
why the "finger" I'm pointint to with the arrow in his could bee seen as
a band, but as it
is grasping the branch I can't see how it is possible...
What do you see? This all started because Jack mentioned being
disappointed that his bird had a leg band
and since I couldn't see one I was aiming to reassure...

in addition to noting where my arrows are pointing, note the "middle
finger" - longer in both photos..
This is more fun than the work I should be doing :-)

Okay, Ann you will have to take my word for this, but my wife looked at this
enlarged
print, nodded her head and stated, "yes, that's a leg band alright!"
Onward..

Jack that is part of his little claws, footies or whatever ... not a
band. really...
attached is a close up of my yellow birdies tootsies.. next to yours
see?? I appeal to your wife
to look too :-)
The key is that what you are calling a band is wrapped around the
twig... he's holding on..
banding on bird legs are higher up and not roundedin my experience.
nahnahnhay :-)
we have suuch fun!
