It's because Pentax is the Rodney Dangerfield of camera systems.

That 3D printer base cap looks like it has links you can use to send the
idea to a PUBLIC 3D printer, although the nearest one to me is 354.6
miles away; they're available starting at $79.95 each with delivery in 5
days.

Not an idea that I think is quite ready for prime-time yet.

Larry, as others have already commented, your bag baseplate idea is very
good. A thin Al or plywood base would do the trick. As far as the
original rail is concerned, the Nikon/Canon caps only need to be
replaced by Pentax ones. I can't understand why that option is not
offered seeing they offer holders for all sorts of other equipment.

Subject: Carrying lenses, DIY experiment

A few nights ago, Nicole sent me a link to this gadget, which basically
works as a socket rail for lenses:

Unfortunately, they don't support Pentax lenses. But that did give me
an idea for carrying my lenses. I've been using one of these Matin bags
in the top of my camera bag to carry several of my primes:

I made a quick and dirty prototype using some of the less than wonderful
cheap back caps (they say PK on them)

Which allows me to carry the lenses in my bag like so:

If it seems promising, I'll pick up some of the fotodiox lens caps and
make a better unit, probably bolting the lens caps down to whatever I
use for a base rather than just glueing them down.

If I had a 3-d printer, it would be tempting to make a rail with the
mounts for the three lenses based on this design:
