I am quite confident that none of that was allowed to drift into the ocean. The people of Maui are paranoid about keeping the ocean and the beaches as clean as possible. One almost never sees trash on the beach or in the water. Plastic grocery bags have been illegal for several years now, because the are easily caught by the wind and blown into the shrubs and trees. Now that the last sugar plantation has closed, Maui's economy -- and life style -- is dependent on its natural beauty and those lovely visitors from Alaska who spend the winter just offshore.
