1. Layout, interface, etc. The 645Z has a clear strong resemblance to the K-3
in many respects, with form details that harken back to the original 645’s.
(E.g., tripod mounts on both bottom and on left side, making it easy to switch
from horizontal to vertical and no need for an L-bracket.) (I also have
appreciated that the top-deck LCD is tilted, reminiscent of the MZ-S. ) They
took advantage of the empty space on the body’s upper left to add a few
function buttons. The AF button on the K-3 and K-1 are in relatively the same
position, the AF button on the Zis relatively more like on the K-5 bodies.
The K-1 is clearly a member of the same family with many characteristics that
could alsohave been derived from the K-3. So they are alike in that they have a
similar progenitor. The biggest difference on the K-1 is the obvious Function
Dial or Smart Function dial which, with the top-deck 3rd control dial pretty
much crowd the LCD off the top.
2. Usability. Both are “large” and “heavy”; in part because both are solidly
built.
3. Quality of output. I am hoping for less breezy conditions soon - I want to
do a macro test with the three bodies,m both single shot and stacking. And with
pixel-shift on the K-1. I’ll let you know.
