I have one of those too - everything worked last time I tried it but
that was probably about 6-7 years ago.  I should fire it up again to
check.

It's interesting that at a constant f2.8, I believe that lens was the
fastest manual zoom that Pentax produced.  I guess something about it
had to be fast because the AF wasn't :-)>
