Shutterbug describes the ZX-L as a 5n replacement. Peterson's reviews it in their current issue and calls it a ZX-7 replacement. Huh?
Of course, it comes only with program metering. No center-weighted or spot. Peterson's, who never say anything bad about a product, noted that their review ZX-L tends slightly to overexpose slide film. On a hopeful note they said that they had a pre-production model, and maybe the production models would get it right. It sounds to me like the continuing overexposure problem that has plagued Pentax's program metering for slide film. I'd like to be able to recommend Pentax to others. But the MZ-S is the only model now in production that includes other metering modes. How can I recommend Pentax to those who want a moderately-priced body knowing that, when the person eventually tries some slide film, the meter will overexpose? Why won't Pentax fix this? I always use the PZ-1p and MZ-S on center-weighted, and almost never get a badly exposed shot. Joe - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List.
