I've felt sorry for Britain and the kind of rhetoric that has been tossed around. Reminds me of the debate in my country in 1994, before our referendum. Back then it seemed that the less people actually knew, the more absolutist their arguments. And there was a lot of absolutism. I think it will be very difficult to gauge the consequences in the long term. UK is probably in for a few surprises - take a look at how much Norway has to pay for market access - that will not manifest until extricated, but at the same time the business and marketplace will adapt continuously. Cause and effect will be difficult to separate in hindsight too. Personally I worry that other countries like Spain will folow suit. The ghost of the finance crisis in Greece could ne stirred too.
