On 1/7/16, Juan Buhler, discombobulated, unleashed: >Long time no talk.
Yep - you still at Pixar or is that ancient history? Or am I dreaming it up? >Those are great, the Olympus is a great looking camera. There's also some >really interesting lenses for m34, a few years ago I shot for a bit with a >Panasonic GF-1 with the 20mm 1.7. Horrible lens if you want to focus >manually, but I love the way it renders. To this day, every now and then I >run into a frame I made with it in LR, and I always can tell it was that >lens. It has a "pop" that's hard to describe. > >I got the A7ii because wanted to mount these lenses on a full frame sensor, >and I kind of like what Sony has been doing with their cameras. Yep I figured as much. Here's some experience from a colleague in South Africa who shoots video on an A7s: <http://tinyurl.com/h2lkfjl> and <http://tinyurl.com/hypfvn3> The M4/3 format I'm quite liking despite wide-end envy. That said, 12mm is fine for what I do. I don't shoot raw so I can switch instantly between colour and mono on any of the 4 custom settings I have created: C1 is ISO 200, C2 is ISO 400, C3 is ISO 3200, and C4 is ISO 6400. The in- body stabilisation (5-way) is superb on the longer glass and image quality is best I've encountered. Form factor is great - small and easily handled, with a rear LCD that swivels and closes with the screen facing inwards, which is the way it stays most of the time. I've stopped chimping during shooting. The EVF is superb and peaking works great with the MF lenses. Absolutely love it. > >BTW, I just mounted the Sony 10-18/4, which I exchanged for a few prints a >couple of months ago and was using on the A6000. I am amazed to see that it >is usable from 12mm on full frame! No idea about sharpness (which is a >bourgeois concept anyway!) but vignetting goes away at 12mm or so. >Incredible. 10-18 of full frame, man that demands balls to get into the action ;-) > >And now I might start trying to buy fewer cameras and use the ones I have :) I'll drink to that!
