This is interesting. I'd guess that these devices stop working when the
voltage level gets below some threshold, but the voltage level of a fully
charged AA NiMH battery should stay constant at 1.2v until it's almost fully
discharged. This differs from an alkaline, which steadily ramps down from
1.5v (new) to 1.0v (dead). Are there any battery experts on the list that
could comment?
