The word is that this was due to the appreciation of the dollar
relative to the yen.
I had a little money come in, so I've just ordered a K-1, despite the
price increase. For now I'll pair it mainly with the film era FA
24-90 (plus many primes that I have).

That doesn't really make sense to me. Seems like if the dollar is going
up in relation to the yen then the price in dollars should go down.
