Exciting stuff. Are the whales dangerous or can one get close? The colours
in your sunrise shots are magic (movies in reverse?).

Thanks, Alan. Shortly after this shot, I jumped into one of the other
outriggers and paddled over what was an unusually calm Pacific. We
encountered three sets of whales that morning, including one mother with
