To me it sounds like a waste of money. You could/should do a proof copy after you have it all together, and there will be time then to fix any image issues. If anything, if you are really worried about image print quality, do a total throw-away (on the same paper you plan to use later), maybe 10-12 pages, include a range of bright, dark and midtown images, see how they come out. But don’t waste money on a full proof until you put in the text and have it all ready to go. Just MHO.
