Despite the fact that, here on the PDML, the A 35-105/3.5 is the
"poster boy" for manual focus zooms, while the A 28-135/4 seems to
be the "whipping boy" of the Pentax zooms ("it's so heavy", "it's so
big") (<sheesh - gimme a break>), I would say that they are nearly
identical in optical and mechanical quality. Yes, the 28-135 is a
little bigger and a little heavier, and it's a third of a stop
slower, but the 35-105 does "run out of zoom range" more often. They
are ~both~ excellent A-series zoom lenses.
